Quin's has been a well respected name in the marine industry in Australia since 1921, In 1836 Captain Hugh Quin arrived in the new colony of South Australia aboard the ship 'Cygnet'.

Captain Hugh's grandson, Hugh Quin Jnr (1880-1950) became the renowned sailmaker to the local fishing fleet, founding Hugh Quin P/L and establishing a sail loft in September 1921.

Barry Quin in South Australia has passed sailmaking and rigging knowledge to his son Colin Quin, who is continuing the family tradition of serving the marine industry in Queensland.
